Today

Today I know a lady who is crying a widow’s tears.
Today I know a lonely child whose heart is filled with fear.
Today I know an erring Christian who has wandered from the fold.
Today I know some who are lost for they don’t know God at all.

Today I know a hurting family just trying to survive.
Today I know a discouraged friend who is giving up on life.
Today I know a stricken man whose body is racked with pain.
Today I know an impoverished soul who is hungry once again.

I can wait until another day to reach out to those in need,
But there’s no promise of another day for any, including me.
Now is the time for me to serve. I do not dare delay.
I must never put off ‘til tomorrow what I know should be done today.
