Another Year

Another year has come and gone
And with it went my dreams;
The deeds, the sacrifices, the glowing words
I'd resolved last New Year's Eve.

Another year has come and gone
And with it went my intentions.
The souls I had vowed to win to Christ
Are too numerous to mention.

Another year has come and gone
And, oh, what sad regret!
The strides that I'd make for my Lord
Have not been taken yet.

I watched the days go swiftly by
And now I say in sorrow,
My motto for each day, I fear, was,
"I promise I'll do that tomorrow."

Another year has come and gone,
But wait, what's this I see?
The gracious Father, the mighty God
Has given one more to me.

Oh, Lord, may I clearly see today
How swiftly time moves on
That I'll never again lament another
Year that's come and gone.
